Mast Weight & Rudder Configuration? - 2006/07/22 12:56 Just curious what the rig will weigh for the boat? I have several bridges between my house and open water and lowering the rig would help me get our a lot quicker. Since I have several miles to go under power, I'm also interested in the speed you are getting under power. My third question relates to rudder configuration. Will the "kick up" or slide up and down similar to the dagger boards.

Re:Mast Weight & Rudder Configuration? - 2006/07/24 18:31 Thanks for the questions.

Mast weighs 85 kg (~180 #) but we really had not contemplated raising and lowering except to rig the boat - need to think about doing it underway.

Not sure of top speed yet under power - still breaking in the engine, but we should move along - will get a number when we can.

Rudders are kick-up style so that we can maneuver in shallow water - but mostly so that they can be well balanced - there is almost no helm on this boat even at speed because Marstrom did a fantastic job on the blades.
