ok ! time for price - 2006/07/21 21:56 Lovely looking boat you guys put together, you should be proud .But the main thing i would like to know what is a person going to pay to have such a boat on the water and humming along. Do you intend to make and supply only? or are you going to sell the use of the plans to ppl? Not being in the USA these thing are of interest.

Re:ok ! time for price - 2006/07/24 18:35 Ficklewind - we are selling the boat for $195,000 ex sails trailer and outboard. Figure ~$225 all up. That is a very competitive price for a boat of this caliber.

We will be producing and selling boats, but not selling plans as we want to control the build weights and specs for one design sailing. That said, the whole package -- boat on trailer with mast (2-piece) fits into a shipping containter - so that getting the boat to you is really no problem.

That makes the boat very expensive when you add shipping, import duty, sales tax, etc: to a place like Australia. (Catamaran Heaven).

Do you plan to franchise an Australian manufacturer so that we can experience this very attractive morsel without having to mortgage the family home.?

There are some very experienced and high quality composite boatbuilders in AUS.

Re:ok ! time for price - 2007/02/08 21:17 We are working on the best way to get boats to australia, and may license a builder, still working through that.

but I will point out that shipping a container is relatively small part of the cost here, and the whole kit, trailer and all can go into a container.

I agree it would be acceptable if container shipping was all the cost to consider. It's the Import duty, GST and luxury tax surcharge --ie:- tax on tax on tax which is the killer. Even if you franchise a suitable builder over here we still have to pay 10% GST and possibly luxury tax surcharge.
